YAD BRACELET
Sterling silver hamsa bracelet, with or without red bendel string.
In Jewish tradition, the hamsa, hand shape, is an aide in warding off "the evil eye"- any bad wishes or curses from others. The red string has been inside Kever Rachel- Rachel's (one of the 3 original Jewish matriarchs) Tomb. Traditionally this string is worn to request advocacy from Rachel's spirit, as she is known for her caring, generosity, and desire to defend her children. Kabbalists believe that wearing the red string on the left wrist will tap into protective energy surrounding Kever Rachel, and use it to intercept negative influences intended to cause us harm. Rachel's Tomb is just outside of Biblical Israel. Until very recently, the site has only been approachable with armed guard and by bullet-proof bus, so authentic strings are not as widely available as they once were.
Today, the hamsa and strings are generally known as good luck charms - though traditional Judaism does not give much credence to luck, "mazal"- a result of astrological positioning, a factor of nature- and only a minor influence on destiny.
7" chain. Extra string provided, if ordered with string. Gift boxed.
